Psalms 122

1 David rejoyceth in the name of the faithful, that God hath accomplished his promise, and placed his Ark in Zión. 5 For the which he giveth thanks, 8 And praieth for the prosperity of the Church.
¶ A song of degrees, or Psalme of David.
1.I arejoyced, when they said to me, We wil go into the house of the Lord.
2.Our bfeet shal stand in thy gates, ô Jerusalém.
3.Jerusalém is buylded as a citie, that is ccompact together in it self:
4.Whereunto dthe tribes, even the tribes of the Lord go up according to the testimony to Israél, to praise the Name of the Lord.
5.For there are thrones set for judgement, even the thrones of the house of eDavid.
6.Praie for the peace of Jerusalém: let them prosper that love thee.
7.Peace be within thy fwalls, and prosperity within thy palaces.
8.For my gbrethren and neighbour’s sakes I wil wish thee now prosperity.
9.Because of the House of the Lord our God, I wil procure thy wealth.

Notes

1-a.
He rejoices that God had appointed a place, where the Ark should still remain.
2-b.
Which were want to wander to and fro, as the Ark removed.
3-c.
By the artificial joining and beauty of the houses, he means the concord, and love that was between the citizens.
4-d.
All the tribes according to God’s covenant shall come and pray there.
5-e.
In whose house God placed the throne of justice, & made it a figure of Christ’s kingdom.
7-f.
The favour of God prosper you both within and without.
8-g.
Not only for my own sake, but for all the faithful.
