Psalms 110

David prophecieth of the power and everlasting kingdom given to Christ, 4 And of his Priesthood, which should put an end to the Priesthood of Leví.
¶ A Psalme of David.
1.The aLord said unto my Lord, Sit thou at my right hand, until I make thine enemies thy fotestole.
2.The Lord shal send the rod of thy power out of bZión: be thou ruler in the middes of thine enemies.
3.Thy people shal come willingly at the time of assembling: cthine armie in holie beautie: the youth of thy wombe shalbe as the morning dewe.
4.The Lord sware and wil not repent, Thou art a Priest for ever after the ordre of dMelchi-zédek.
5.The Lord, that is at thy right hand, shal wound Kings in the daie of his wrath.
6.He shalbe Judge among the heathen: he shal fil all with dead bodies, and smite the ehead over great countries.
7.He shal fdrink of the brook in the way: therefore shal he lift up his head.

Jesus Christ in Mt. 22:44 gives the interpretation hereof, and shows that this cannot properly be applied unto David, but to himself.

And thence it shall stretch through all the world: and this power chiefly stands in the preaching of his word.
3-c.
By your word your people shall be assembled into your Church, whose increase shall be so abundant and wonderful, as the drops of the dew.
4-d.
As Melchizedek the figure of Christ was both King and Priest: so the effect cannot be accomplished in any King, save only in Christ. 2 Chron. 26.21.
6-e.
No power shall be able to resist him.
7-f.
Under this similitude of a captain, that is so greedy to destroy his enemies, that he will not scares drink by the way, he shows how God will destroy his enemies.
