2 Hirám ſendeth wood and workemen to Dauid. 4 The names of his children. 8. 14. By the counſel of God he goeth againſt the Philiſtims & ouercommeth thẽ. as God fighteth for him.
3.¶ Alſo Dauid toke mo wiues at Ieruſalém, & Dauid begate mo ſonnes & daughters.
4.And theſe are the names of the children which he had at Ieruſalém, Shammúa, and Shobáb, Nathán, & Salomón,
6.And Nógah, and Népheg and Iaphía,
8.But when the Philiſtims heard that Dauid was anointed King ouer Iſraél, all ye Philiſtims came vp to ſeke Dauid. And when Dauid heard, he went out againſt them.
9.And the Philiſtims came, and ſpred them ſelues in the valley of Rephaím.
10.Then Dauid aſked counſel at God, ſaying, Shal I go vp againſt ye Philiſtims, & wilt thou deliuer them into mine hand? And the Lord ſaid vnto him, Go vp: for I wil deliuer them into thine hand.
12.And there they had left their gods: and Dauid ſaid, Let them euen be burnt with fyre.
13.Againe the Philiſtims came and ſpred them ſelues in the valley.
14.And whẽ Dauid aſked againe coũſel at God, God ſaid to him, Thou ſhalt not go vp after them, but turne away from them, that thou maieſt come vpon them ouer againſt the mulbery trees.
15.And when thou heareſt the noiſe of one going in the toppes of the mulbery trees, then go out to battel: for God is gone forthe before thee, to ſmite the hoſte of the Philiſtims.
16.So Dauid did as God had commanded him: and they ſmote the hoſte of the Philiſtims from Gibeón euen to Gézer.
17.And the fame of Dauid went out into all lands and the Lord broght the feare of him vpon all nacions.
