.So " I came vpon him, and ſlewe him, & becauſe I was ſure that he colde not liue, after that he had fallen, I toke the cro-wne that was vpon his head, and the bra-celet that was on his arme, and broght thé hither vnto my lord.
.Then Dauid toke holde on his clothes, * & rent them, and likewiſe all the men that were with him.
.And they mourned and wept, and faſted vntil euen, for Saúl and for Ionathán his ſonne, and for the people of the Lord, and for the houſe of Iſraél, becauſe they were ſlayne with the ſworde.

.(Alſo he bade them teache the children of Iudáh to g ſhoote, as it is written in ye boke of * " Iaſhér)
.O noble Iſraél, h he is ſlayne vpon thy hie places: how are the mighty ouerthro-wen?
.* Tel it not in Gath, nor publiſh it in the ſtretes of Aſhkelón, leſt the daughters of the Philiſtims reioyce, leſt the daughters of the vncircumciſed triumphe.
.Ye mountaines of Gilbóa, vpon you be nether dewe nor raine, nor i be there fields of offrings: for there the ſhield of the mightie is caſt downe, the ſhield of Saúl, as thogh he had not bene anoynted with oyle.
.The bowe of Ionathán neuer turned backe, nether did the ſworde of Saúl retur-ne empty from the blood of the ſlayne, and from the fat of the mighty.
.Saúl and Ionathán were louely and pleaſant in their liues, and in their deathes they were not k diuided: they were ſwifter thẽ egles, they were ſtrõge then lions.
.Ye daughters of Iſraél, wepe for Saúl, which clothed you in ſkarlet, l with plea-ſures, and hanged ornaments of golde vp-on your apparel.
.How were the mighty ſlayne in the mid-des of the battel? ô Ionathán, thou waſt ſlayne in thine hie places.
.Wo is me for thee, my brother Iona-thán: very kinde haſt thou bene vnto me: thy loue to me was wonderful, paſsing ye loue of m women: how are the mighty o-uerthrowen, and the weapons of warre de-ſtroyed?
