Iaakób commeth before Pharaóh, and telleth him his age. 11 The land of Goſhen is giuen him. 22 The idolatrous prieſts haue liuing of the King. 28 Iaakobs age. when he dyeth. 30 Ioſéph ſweareth to bury him with his fathers.
.THen came Ioſéph and tolde Pharaóh, and ſaid, My father, & my brethrē, & their ſhepe, & their cattel, and all yͤ they haue, are come out of the land of Canáan, & beholde, they are in yͤ land of Góſhen.
.And Ioſéph toke parte of his brethrē, euē a fiue men, & preſented thē vnto Pharaóh.
.Thē Pharaóh ſaid vnto his brethrē, What is your trade? And thei anſwered Pharaóh, Thy ſeruants are ſhepherdes, bothe we and our fathers.
.Thei ſaid moreouer vnto Pharaóh, For to ſoiourne in yͤ land are we come: for thy ſeruāts haue no paſture for their ſhepe, ſo ſore is the famine in the land of Canáan. Now therefore, we pray thee, let thy ſeruants dwel in the land of Góſhen.
.Then ſpake Pharaoh to Ioſeph, ſaying, Thy father and thy brethré are come vnto thee.
.The b land of Egypt is before thee : in ŷ beſt place of the land make thy father and thy brethren dwel : let them dwel in the land of Góſhen : and if thou knoweſt that there be men of actiuitie among them, make them rulers ouer my cattel.
.Ioſeph alſo broght Iaakób his father, & ſet him before Pharaoh. And Iaakób " ſaluted Pharaoh.
.Then Pharaoh ſaid vnto Iaakób, " How olde art thou?
.And Iaakób ſaid vnto Pharaoh, The whole time of my * pilgrimage is an hũdreth & thirty yeres : fewe and euil haue the dayes of my life bene, & I haue not atteined vnto the yeres of the life of my fathers, in ŷ dayes of their pilgrimages.
.And Iaakób " toke leaue of Pharaoh, & departed from ŷ preſence of Pharaoh.
.¶ And Ioſeph placed his father, and his brethren, and gaue them poſſeſſion in the land of Egypt, in the beſt of the land, c euen in the land of Rameſés, as Pharaoh had commanded.
.And Ioſeph nouriſhed his father, and his brethren, and all his fathers houſholde with bread, euen d to the yong children.
.¶ Now there was no bread in all the lād: for the famine was exceding fore: ſo that the land of Egypt & the land of Canáan were famiſhed by the reaſon of ŷ famine.
.And Ioſeph gathered all the money, that was foūde in the lād of Egypt, and in the land of Canáan, for the corne which they boght, & e Ioſeph laied vp the money in Pharaohs houſe.
.So when money failed in the land of Egypt, and in the land of Canáan, then all the Egyptiás came vnto Ioſeph, and ſaid, Giue vs bread : for why ſhulde we dye before thee ? for our money is ſpent.
.Then ſaid Ioſeph, Bring your cattel, & I wil giue you for your cattel, if your money be ſpent.
.So they broght their cattel vnto Ioſeph, & Ioſeph gaue them bread for the horſes, and for the flockes of ſhepe, and for the herdes of cattel, and for the aſſes: ſo he fed them with bread for all their cattel that yere.
.But when the yere was ended, they came vnto him the next yere, & ſaid vnto him, We wil not hide from my lord, that ſince our money is ſpent, & my lord hathe the herdes of the cattel; there is nothing left in the fight of my lord, but our bodies & our grounde.
.Why ſhal we periſh in thy fight, bothe we, and our f land? bye vs and our lād for bread, and we and our land wil be bonde to Pharaoh : therefore giue vs ſede, ŷ we may liue and not dye, and that the land go not to waſte.
.So Ioſeph boght all the lād of Egypt for Pharaoh: for ŷ Egyptians ſolde euerie mã his grounde becauſe the famine was ſore vpon them: ſo the land became Pharaohs.
.And he g remoued the people vnto the cities, " from one ſide of Egypt euen to the other.
.Onely the land of the Prieſtes boght he not : for the Prieſtes had an ordinarie of Pharaoh, and they did eat their ordinarie, which Pharaoh gaue thé : wherefore they ſolde not their grounde.
.Then Ioſeph ſaid vnto the people, Beholde, I haue boght you this day and your land for Pharaoh : lo, here is ſede for you: ſowe therefore the grounde.
.And of the encreaſe ye ſhal giue the fife parte vnto Pharaoh, and foure partes ſhal be yours for the ſede of the field, and for your meat, and for them of your houſholdes, and for your children to eat.
.Then they anſwered, Thou haſt ſaued our liues : let vs finde grace in the ſight of my lord, & we wil be Pharaohs ſeruāts.
.Then Ioſeph made it a lawe ouer the land of Egypt vnto this day, that Pharaoh ſhulde haue the fift parte, h except the land of the Prieſtes onely, ŵ was not Pharaohs.
.¶ And Iſrael dwelt in the lād of Egypt, in the countrey of Góſhen: and they had their poſſeſſions therein, and grewe and multiplied excedingly.
.Moreouer, Iaakób liued in the land of Egypt ſeuentene yeres, ſo that the whole age of Iaakób was an hundreth fourtie & ſeuen yere.
.Now when the time drewe nere ŷ Iſrael muſt dye, he called his ſonne Ioſeph, and ſaid vnto him, If I haue now foūde grace in thy ſight, put thine hād now vnder my thigh, and deale mercifully and truely i ŵ me: bury me not, I pray thee, in Egypt,
.But when I ſhal ſlepe with my fathers, thou ſhalt cary me out of Egypt, and bury me in their burial. And he anſwered, I wil do as thou haſt ſaid.
.Then he ſaid, Sweare vnto me. And he ſware vnto him. And Iſrael k worſhipped toward the beds head.
