Genesis 29

13 Iaakób commeth to Labán and serueth seuen yere for Rahél. 23 Leah broght to his bed in ſtede of Rahél. 27 He serueth seuen yere more for Rahél. 32 Leáh concei-ueth and beareth foure sonnes.
1.THen Iaakób a lift vp his fete and ca-me into the " Eaſt countrei.
2.And as he looked about, beholde there was a well in the field, b and lo, thre flockes of ſhepe lay thereby (for at that well were ye flockes watered) and there was a great ſto-ne vpon the welles mouthe.
3.And thither were all y flockes gathered, and they rolled the ſtone from the welles mouthe, and watered the ſhepe, and put the ſtone againe vpon the welles mouthe in his place.
4.And Iaakób ſaid vnto them, My c bre-thren, whence be ye? And they anſwered, We are of Harán.
5.Then he ſaid vnto them, Knowe ye La-bán the ſonne of Nahór? Who ſaid, We knowe him.
6.Againe he ſaid vnto them, " Is he i good helth? And they anſwered, He is in good helth, and beholde, his daughter Rahél commeth with the ſhepe.
7.Thẽ he ſaid, Lo, it is yet hie day, neither is it time yt the cattel ſhould be gathered to-gether: water ye the ſhepe & go fede thẽ.
8.But they ſaid, We may not vntil all the flockes be broght together, & til that men rolle the ſtone frõ the welles mouth, that we may water the ſhepe.
9.¶ While he talked with them, Rahél alſo came w her fathers ſhepe, for ſhe kept thẽ.
10.And aſſone as Iaakób ſawe Rahél the daughter of Labán his mothers brother, and the ſhepe of Labán his mothers bro-ther, thẽ c...akób nere, and rolled the ſtone from the welles mouth, and watered the flocke of Labán his mothers brother.
11.And Iaakób kiſſed Rahél, and lift vp his voyce and wept.
12.(For Iaakób tolde Rahél, that he was her fathers " brother, & that he was Rebekahs ſonne) then ſhe ran and tolde her father.
13.And whẽ Laban heard tel of Iaakób his ſiſters ſonne, he ran to mete him, and em-braced him and kiſſed him, & broght him to his houſe: and he tolde Labán e all the-ſe things.
14.To whome Labán ſaid, Wel, thou art my f bone and my fleſh. and he abode with him the ſpace of a moneth.
15.¶ For Labán ſaid vnto Iaakób, Thogh thou be my brother, ſhuldeſt thou there-
16.Now Labán had two daughters, the elder called Leáh, & yͤ yonger called Rahél.
17.And Leáh was " tender eyed, but Rahél was beautiful and faire.
18.And Iaakób loued Rahél, and ſaid, I wil ſerue thee ſeuen yeres for Rahél thy yonger daughter.
19.Then Labán anſwered, It is better that I giue her thee, then that I ſhulde giue her to another man: abide with me.
20.And Iaakób ſerued ſeuen yeres for Rahél, and they ſeemed vnto him but a fewe daies, becauſe he loued her.
21.¶ Then Iaakób ſaid to Labán, Giue me my wife that I maie go in to her: for my g terme is " ended.
22.Wherefore Labán gathered together all the men of the place, and made a feaſt.
23.But h whẽ the euening was come, he toke Leáh his daughter and broght her to him, and he went in vnto her.
24.And Labán gaue his maide Zilpáh to his daughter Leáh, to be her ſeruant.
25.But when the morning was come, beholde, it was Leah. Then ſaid he to Labán, Wherefore haſt thou done thus to me? did not I ſerue thee for Rahél? wherefore then haſt thou beguiled me?
26.And Labán anſwered, It is not the i maner of this place, to giue the yonger before the elder.
27.Fulfil feuen yeres for her, and we wil alſo giue thee this for the ſeruice, which thou ſhalt ſerue me yet ſeuen yeres more.
28.Thẽ Iaakób did ſo, & fulfilled her ſeuen yeres, ſo he gaue him Rahél his daughter to be his wife.
29.Labán alſo gaue to Rahél his daughter Bilháh his maide to be her ſeruant.
30.So entred he in to Rahél alſo, and loued alſo Rahél more then Leáh, and ſerued him yet ſeuen yeres mo.
31.¶ When yͤ Lord ſawe that Leáh was deſpiſed, he k made her " fruteful: but Rahél was baren.
32.And Leáh conceiued and bare a ſonne, and ſhe called his name Reubén: for ſhe ſaid, Becauſe the l Lord hathe loked vpon my tribulacion, now therefore mine houſband wil m loue me.
33.And ſhe conceiued againe and bare a ſonne, and ſaid, Becauſe the Lord heard that I was hated, he hathe therefore giuen me this ſonne alſo, and ſhe called his name Simeón.
34.And ſhe conceiued againe and bare a ſonne, and ſaid, Now at this time wil my houſbãd kepe me companie, becauſe I haue borne him thre ſonnes: therefore was his name called Leuí.
35.Moreouer ſhe conceiued againe and bare a ſonne, ſaying, Now wil I " praiſe the Lord: therefore ſhe called his name Iu- * dáh, and left " bearing.
