Genesis 2

2 God reſteth the ſeuenth day, and ſanctifieth it. 15 He ſetteth man in the garden. 22 He createth the woma̅. 29 Mariage is ordeined.
1.THus the heauens and the earth were finiſhed, & all the a hoſte of them.
2.For in the ſeuenth day God ended his worke which he had made, * & at the ſeuenth daye he b reſted from all his worke, which he had made.
3.So God bleſſed the ſeuenth day, & c ſanctified it, becauſe that in it he had reſted from all his worke, which God had created and made.
4.¶ Theſe are the " generacions of the heauens & of the earth, when they were created, in the day that the Lord God made the earth and the heauens,
5.And euerie " plant of the field, before it was in the earth, and euerie herbe of the field, before it grewe: for the Lord God had not cauſed it to d raine vpō the earth, nether was there a man to til the grounde,
6.But a myſt went vp from the earth, and watred all the earth.
7.¶ The Lord God alſo made the mā e of the duſt of the grounde, and breathed in his face breath of life, and the man was a liuing ſoule.
8.And the Lord God plāted a garden Eaſtwarde in f Eden, and there he put the man whome he had made.
9.(For out of the grounde made the Lord God to growe euerie tre pleaſant to the ſight, and good for meat: the g tre of life alſo in the middes of the garden, h and the tre of knowledge of good and of euil.
10.And out of Eden went a riuer to water the garden, and from thence it was deuided, and became into foure heades.
11.The name of one is * Piſhón: the fame compaſſeth the whole land i of Hauiláh, where is golde.
12.And the golde of that land is good: there is alſo " bdelium, and the onix ſtone.
13.And the name of the ſecōde riuer is " Gihón: the fame compaſſeth the whole land of Cuſh.
14.The name alſo of ye third riuer is " Hiddékel: this goeth towarde the Eaſtſide of " Aſſhúr: and the fourth riuer is " Peráth)
15.¶ Then the Lord God toke the man, and put him into the garden of Eden, that he might k dreſſe it and kepe it.
16.And the Lord God l commanded the man, ſaying, Thou ſhalt eat frely of euerie tre of the garden,
17.But as touching the tre of knowledge of good and euil, thou ſhalt not eat of it: for " whenſoeuer thou eateſt thereof, thou ſhalt dye the m death.
18.Alſo the Lord God ſaid, It is not good that the man ſhulde be him ſelfe alone. I wil make him an helpe " mete for him.
19.So the Lord God formed of the earth euerie beaſt of the field, and euerie foule of the heauen, & broght them vnto the n mā to ſe how he wolde call thē: for howſoeuer the man named the liuing creature, ſo was the name thereof.
20.The man therefore gaue names vnto all cattel, and to the foule of the heauen, and to euerie beaſt of the field: but for Adám founde he not an helpe mete for him.
21.¶ Therefore the Lord God cauſed an heauie ſlepe to fall vpon the man. & whiles he ſlept, he toke one of his rybbes and cloſed vp the fleſh in ſteade thereof.
22.And the rybbe which the Lord God had taken from the man, " made he a o woman, and broght her to the man.
23.Then the man ſaid, * This now is bone of my bones, and fleſh of my fleſh. She ſhalbe called " woman, becauſe ſhe was taken out of man.
24.* Therefore ſhal man leaue p his father and his mother, and ſhal cleaue to his wife, and they ſhalbe one fleſh.
25.And they were bothe naked, the man & his wife, and were not q aſhamed.
