Genesis 11

6 The buylding of Babél was the cauſe of the confuſion of tongues. 10 The age and generacion of Shem vnto A-brám 31 Abrams departure from Ur with his father Térah, Sarái & Lot. 32 The age and deeth of Térah.
1.THen the whole earth was of one * language and one ſpeache.
2.And a as b they went from the c Eaſt, they founde a plaine in the land of d Shinár, & there they abode.
3.And they ſaid one to an other, Come let vs make brycke, and burne it in the fire. So thei had brycke for ſtone, and ſlyme had they in ſteade of morter.
4.Alſo they ſaid, Go to, let vs e buylde vs a citie and a tower, whoſe toppe may reach vnto the heauen, that we may get vs a name, leſt we be ſcatred vpon ye whole earth.
5.But the Lord f came downe, to ſe the citie & tower, which ye ſonnes of men buylded.
6.And the Lord ſaid, g Beholde, the people is one, & thei all haue one language, & this they beginne to do, nether can they now be ſtopped from whatſoeuer they haue imagined to do.
7.Come on, h let vs go downe, and there confounde their language, that euerie one perceiue not an others ſpeache.
8.So the Lord ſcatred them from thence vpon all the earth, and they left of to buylde the citie.
9.Therfore the name of it was called "Babel, becauſe the Lord did there confounde the language of all the earth: fró thence then did the Lord ſcater them vpon all the earth.
10.* Theſe are the generacions k of Shem: Shem was an hūdreth yere olde, and begate Arpachſhád two yere after the flood.
11.And Shé liued, after he begate Arpachſhád, fiue hundreth yeres, and begate ſonnes and daughters.
12.Alſo Arpachſhád liued fiue and thirty yeres, and begate Shélah.
13.And Arpachſhád liued, after he begate Shélah, foure hundreth and thre yeres, and begate ſonnes and daughters.
14.And Shélah liued thirty yeres, and begate Eber.
15.So Shélah liued, after he begate Eber, foure hundreth and thre yeres, and begate ſonnes and daughters.
16.Likewiſe Eber liued foure and thirty yeres, and begate Péleg.
17.So Eber liued, after he begate Péleg, foure hundreth and thirty yeres, and begate ſonnes and daughters.
18.And Péleg liued thirty yeres, and begate Reú.
19.* And Péleg liued, after he begate Reú, two hundreth and nine yeres, and begate ſonnes and daughters.
20.Alſo Reú liued two and thirty yeres, & begate Serúg.
21.So Reú liued, after he begate Serúg, two hundreth and ſeuen yeres, and begate ſonnes and daughters.
22.Moreouer Serúg liued thirty yeres, and begate Nahór.
23.And Serúg liued, after he begate Nahór, two hundreth yeres, and begate ſonnes & daughters.
24.And Nahór liued nine & twenty yeres, and begate Térah.
25.So Nahór liued, after he begate Térah, an hūdreth and ninetene yeres, and begate ſonnes and daughters.
26.* So Térah liued ſeuentie yeres, & begate Abrám, Nahór, and Harán.
27.Now theſe are ye generaciōs of Térah: Térah begate Abram, Nahór, & Harán: and Harán begate Lot.
28.Then Harán dyed before Térah his father in the land of his natiuitie, in Vr of the Caldees.
29.So Abrám and Nahór toke them wiues. the name of Abrams wife was Sarái, and the name of Nahors wife Milcah, the daughter of Haran, the father of Milcah, and the father of m Iſcah.
30.But Sarái was barren, and had no childe.
31.Then n Térah toke Abrám his ſonne, & Lot the ſonne of Harán, his ſonnes ſonne, and Sarái his daughter in lawe, his ſonne Abrams wife: and they departed together from Vr of the Caldees, to * go into the land of Canáan, and they came to o Harán, and dwelt there.
32.So the dayes of Térah were two hundreth and fiue yeres, and Térah dyed in Harán.

By this great plague of the confuſion of tōgues, appeareth Gods horrible iudgemēt againſt mans pride and vaine glorie.
