.And his ſonnes walked not in his waies but turned aſide after lucre and * toke rewardes, and peruerted the iudgement.
.¶ Wherefore all the Elders of Iſraél gathered them together, & came to Samuél vnto c Ramáh,
.And ſaid vnto him, Beholde, thou art old, and thy ſonnes walke not in thy waies: * make vs now a King to iudge vs like all nacions.
.But the thing d diſpleaſed Samuél, when they ſaid, Giue vs a King to iudge vs: and Samuél prayed vnto the Lord.
.And the Lord ſaid vnto Samuél, Heare the voice of the people in all that they ſhal ſay vnto thee: for they haue not caſt thee away, but they haue caſt me away, that I ſhulde not reigne ouer them.
.As thei haue euer done ſince I broght thẽ out of Egypt euen vnto this day, (and haue forſaken me, and ſerued other gods) euen ſo do they vnto thee.
.Now therefore hearkẽ vnto their voyce: howbeit yet e teſtifie vnto them & ſhewe thẽ the maner of the King that ſhal reigne ouer them.
.¶ So Samuél tolde all the wordes of the Lord vnto the people that aſked a King of him.
.And he ſaid, This ſhalbe the f maner of the King that ſhal reigne ouer you: he wil take your ſonnes, and appoint them to his charets, and to be his horſmen, and ſome ſhal runne before his charet.
.Alſo he wil make them his captaines ouer thouſandes and captaines ouer fifties, and to eare his grounde, and to reape his harueſt, & to make inſtruments of warre, and the things that ſerue for his charets.
.He wil alſo take your daughters and make them apoticaries, and cookes and bakers.
.And he wil take your fieldes, and your vineyardes, and your beſt oliue trees, and giue them to his ſeruants.
.And he wil take the tenth of your ſede, and of your vineyardes, and giue it to his " Eunuches, and to his ſeruants.
.And he wil take your men ſeruants and your maid ſeruants, and the chief of your yong men, and your aſſes, and put them to his worke.
.He wil take the tenth of your ſhepe, and ye ſhalbe his ſeruants.
.And ye ſhal crye out at that day, becauſe of your King, whome ye haue choſen you, and the Lord wil not g heare you at that day.
.But yͤ people wolde not heare the voyce of Samuél, but did ſay, Nay, but there ſhalbe a King ouer vs.
.And we alſo wil be like all other naciõs, and our King ſhal iudge vs, & go out before vs, and fight our battels.
.Therefore when Samuél heard all the wordes of the people, he rehearſed them in the eares of the Lord.
.And the Lord ſaid to Samuél, Hear- " ken vnto their voyce, and make them a King And Samuél ſaid vnto the men of Iſraél, Go euerie man vnto his citie.
