.AND when he had made an end of ſpeaking vnto Saúl, the a ſoule of Ionathán was knit with the ſoule of Dauid, and Ionathán loued him, as his owne ſoule.
.And Saúl toke him that day, and wolde not let him returne to his fathers houſe.

.And Dauid went out whitherſoeuer Saúl ſent him, & behaued him ſelfe b wiſely: ſo that Saúl ſet him ouer the mē of warre, and he was accepted in the ſight of all the people, and alſo in the ſight of Sauls ſeruants.
.¶ When thei came againe, and Dauid returned from the ſlaughter of the c Philiſtím, the women came out of all cities of Iſraél, ſinging and danſing to mete King Saúl, with timbrels, with inſtrumēts of ioye, and with rebecks.
.And the women " ſang by cours in their playe, & ſaid, * Saúl hathe ſlayne his thouſand, and Dauid his ten thouſand.

.And Dauid behaued him ſelfe wiſely in all his waies: for the Lord was with him.
.Wherefore when Saúl ſawe that he was very wiſe, he was afraied of him.
.For all Iſraél and Iudáh loued Dauid, becauſe he went out and in before them.
.¶ Thé Saúl ſaid to Dauid, Beholde mine eldeſt daughter Meráb, her I wil giue thee to wife: onely be a valiant ſonne vnto me, and g fight the Lords battels: for Saúl thoght, Mine hand ſhal not be vpon him, but the hand of the Philiſtims ſhalbe vpon him.
.And Dauid anſwered Saúl, What am I? and what is my life, or the familie of my father in Iſraél, that I ſhulde be ſonne in lawe to the King?
.Howbeit when Meráb Sauls daughter ſhulde haue bene giué to Dauid, h ſhe was giué vnto Adriél a Meholathite to wife.
.¶ Then Michál Sauls daughter loued Dauid: and thei ſhewed Saúl, & the thing pleaſed him.
.Therefore Saúl ſaid, I wil giue him her, that ſhe may be a i ſnare to him, and that the hād of the Philiſtíms may be againſt hī. Wherefore Saúl ſaid to Dauid, Thou ſhalt this day be my ſonne in lawe in the one of the twaine.
.And Saúl cōmanded his ſeruants, Speake with Dauid ſecretly, and ſay, Beholde, the King hathe a fauour to thee, and all his ſeruants loue thee: be now therefore the Kings ſonne in lawe.
.And Sauls ſeruants ſpake theſe wordes in the eares of Dauid. And Dauid ſaid, k Semeth it to you a light thing to be a Kings ſonne in lawe, ſeing that I am a poore man and of ſmall reputacion?
.And then Sauls ſeruants broght him worde againe, ſaying, Suche wordes ſpake Dauid.
.And Saúl ſaid, This wiſe ſhal ye ſay to Dauid, The King deſireth no dowrie, but an hūdreth foreſkinnes of the Philiſtims, to be auenged of the Kings enemies: for Saúl thoght to make Dauid fall into the hands of the Philiſtims.
.And when his ſeruāts tolde Dauid theſe wordes, it pleaſed Dauid wel, to be the l Kings ſonne in lawe: and the daies were not expired.
.Afterwarde Dauid aroſe with his men, and went and ſlewe of the Philiſtims two hundreth men: and Dauid broght their foreſkinnes, and m thei gaue them wholy to the King that he might be the Kings ſonne in lawe: therefore Saúl gaue him Michál his daughter to wife.
