Judges 12

6 Iphtáh killeth two & fortie thouſand Ephraimites. 8 After Iphtáh ſuccedeth Ibzán, 11 Elon, 13 And Abdón.
1.A a Nd the men of Ephráim gathered thē ſelues together, and went Northeward and ſaid vnto Iphtáh, Wherefore wenteſt thou to fight againſt the children of Ammón, and dideſt not call b vs to go with thee? we wil therefore burne thine houſe vpon thee with fire.
2.And Iphtáh ſaid vnto thē, I and my people were at great ſtrife with the childrē of Ammón, and when I called you, ye deliuered me not out of their hands.
3.So when I ſawe yt ye deliuered me not, c I put my life in mine hāds, & went vpon the children of Ammón: ſo ye Lord deliuered them into mine hands. Wherefore thē are ye come vpō me now to fight againſt me?
4.Then Iphtáh gathered all the men of Gileád, and fought with Ephráim: & the men of Gileád ſmote Ephráim, becauſe they ſaid, Ye Gilia dites are runagates of Ephráim d among the Ephraimites, and among the Manaſſites.
5.Alſo the Giliadites toke the paſſages of Iordén before the Ephraimites, and when the Ephraimites that were eſcaped, ſaid, Let me paſſe, then the men of Gileád ſaid vnto him, Art thou an Ephraimite? If he ſaid, Nay,
6.Thē ſaid they vnto him, Say now e Shibbóleth: and he ſaid, Sibbóleth: for he colde not ſo pronounce: then they toke him, and ſlewe him at the paſſages of Iordén: and there fel at that time of the Ephraimites two and forty thouſand.
7.And Iphtáh iudged Iſraél ſix yere: then dyed Iphtáh the Giliadite, and was buryed in one of the cities of Gileád.
8.¶ After him f Ibzán of Beth-léhem iudged Iſraél,
9.Who had thirtie ſonnes and thirtie daughters, which he ſent out, and toke in thirtie daughters from abroad for his ſonnes. and he iudged Iſraél ſeuen yere.
10.Then Ibzán dyed, and was buryed at Beth-léhem.
11.¶ And after him iudged Iſraél Elón, a Zebulonite: and he iudged Iſraél ten yere.
12.Then Elón the Zebulonite dyed, & was buryed in Aiialón in the countrey of Zebulún.
13.¶ And after him Abdón ye ſonne of Hillél the Pirathonite iudged Iſraél.
14.And he had fortie ſonnes & thirtie " neueus that rode on ſeuentie " aſſecoltes: and he iudged Iſraél eight yeres.
15.Then dyed Abdón the ſonne of Hillél ye Pirathonite, and was buryed in Pirathón, in the land of Ephráim, in the mount of the Amalekites.
