Joshua 5

The Canaanites are afraide of the Iſraelites 2 Circumciſion is commanded the ſeconde time. 10 The Paſſeouer is kept. 12 Manna ceaſeth. 13 The Angel appeareth vnto Ioſhúa
.NOw whē all ye Kings of the a Amorites, which were beyonde Iordén Weſtward, and all the Kings of the Canaanite, which were by ye Sea, heard that the Lord had dryed vp ye waters of Iordén before the childré of Iſraél vntil they were gone ouer, their heart fainted: and there was no courage in them anie more becauſe of the children of Iſraél.
.¶ That ſame time ye Lord ſaid vnto Ioſhúa, * Make thee b ſh returne, and circumciſe the ſonnes of Iſraél the ſecond time.
.Then Ioſhúa made him ſharpe kniues & circumciſed the ſonnes of Iſraél in c the hil of the foreſkinnes.
.And this is the cauſe why Ioſhúa circūciſed all the people, euen the males that came out of Egypt, becauſe all the men of warre were dead in the wildernes by the way after they came out of Egypt.
.For all the people that came out were circumciſed: but all the people that were borne in the wildernes by the way after they came out of Egypt, were d not circūciſed.
.For the children of Iſraél walked fourty yeres in the wildernes, til all the people of the men of warre that came out of Egypt were conſumed, becauſe they obeyed not the voyce of the Lord: vnto whome the Lord ſware, that he wolde not ſhewe the land, * which the Lord had ſworne vnto their fathers, that he wolde giue vs, euen a land that floweth with milke and honie.
.So their ſonnes whome he raiſed vp in their ſteade, Ioſhúa circumciſed: for they were vncircūciſed, becauſe they circumciſed them not by the way.
.And when they had made an end of circūciſing all the people, they abode in the places in the cāpe til they e were whole.
.After, the Lord ſaid vnto Ioſhúa, This day I haue taken away the f ſhame of Egypt from you : wherefore he called the name of that place Gilgál, vnto this day.
.¶ So the childrē of Iſraél abode in Gilgál, and kept the feaſt of the Paſſeouer the fourteenth day of the moneth at euen in the plaine of Ierichó.
.And they did eat of the corne of the lād, on the morow after the Paſſeouer, vnleauened bread, and parched corne in the ſame day.
.And the MAN ceaſed on the morowe after they had eaten of the corne of the land, nether had the children of Iſraél MAN anie more, but did eat of the frute of the land of Canáan that yere.
.¶ And when Ioſhúa was by Ierichó, he lift vp his eyes and loked: and beholde, there ſtode a * man againſt him, hauing a ſworde drawen in his hand: and Ioſhúa went vnto him, & ſaid vnto him, Art thou on our ſide, or on our aduerſaries?
.And he ſaid, Nay, but as a captaine of the hoſte of the Lord am I now come: thē Ioſhúa fel on his face to the earth, and g did worſhip, and ſaid vnto him, What ſaith my Lord vnto his ſeruant?
.And the captaine of the Lords hoſte ſaid vnto Ioſhúa, * Loſe thy ſhooe of thy fote: for the place whereon thou ſtandeſt, is holy: and Ioſhúa did ſo.
