Deuteronomy 25

3 The beating of the offenders. 5 To raise vp sede to the kinsman. 11 In what case a womans hand must be cut of. 13 Of iust weights, and measures. 19 To destroy the Amalekites.
1.WHen there ſhalbe ſtrife betwene men, & they ſhal come vnto iudgement, a and ſentẽce ſhalbe giuen vpon them, and the righteous ſhalbe iuſtified, and the wicked condemned,
2.Then if ſo be the wicked be worthy to be beaten, the iudge ſhal cauſe him to lye downe, b and to be beaten before his face, according to his treſpas, vnto a certeine nomber.
3.c Forty ſtripes ſhal he cauſe him to haue and not paſt, leſt if he ſhulde excede and beat him aboue that with manie ſtripes, thy brother ſhulde appeare deſpiſed in thy ſight.
4.* Thou ſhalt not moſel the oxe that treadeth out the corne.
5.* If brethren dwel together, and one of thẽ dye & haue no childe, the wife of the dead ſhal not mary without: that is, vnto a ſtranger, but his d kinſman ſhal go in vnto her, and take her to wife, and do the kinſmans office to her.
6.And the firſt borne which ſhe beareth, ſhal ſuccede in the name of his brother which is dead, that his name be not put out of Iſraél.
7.And if the man wil not take his kinſwoman, then let his kinſwoman go vp to the gate vnto the Elders, and ſay, My kinſmã refuſeth to raiſe vp vnto his brother a name in Iſraél: he wil not do the office of a kinſman vnto me.
8.Thẽ the Elders of his citie ſhal call him, and comen with him: if he ſtand and ſay, I wil not take her,
9.Then ſhal his kinſwomã come vnto him in the preſence of the Elders, and loſe his ſhooe from his fote, & ſpit in his face, and anſwer, and ſay, So ſhal it be done vnto that man, that wil not buyld vp his brothers houſe.
10.And his name ſhalbe called in Iſraél, The houſe of him whoſe ſhooe is put of.
11.e When men ſtriue together, one with another, if the wife of the one come nere, for to rid her houſband out of the hands of him that ſmiteth him, and put forthe her hand, and take him by his priuities,
12.Then thou ſhalt cut of her hand: thine eie ſhal not ſpare her.
13.¶ Thou ſhalt not haue in thy bagge two maner of " weightes, a great & a ſmall,
14.Nether ſhalt thou haue in thine houſe diuerſe " meaſures, a great and a ſmall:
15.But thou ſhalt haue a right & iuſt weight: a perfit & a iuſt meaſure ſhalt thou haue, that thy dayes may be lengthened in ye land, which the Lord thy God giueth thee.
16.For all that do ſuche things, and all that do vnrighteouſly, are abominacion vnto the Lord thy God.
17.* Remẽber what Amalék did vnto thee by ye way, whẽ ye were come out of Egypt:
18.How he met thee by the way, and ſmote the hindmoſt of you, all that were feble behindthee, when thou waſt fainted and weary, and he feared not God.
19.Therefore, when the Lord thy God hath giuen thee reſt from all thine enemies round about in the land, which the Lord thy God giueth thee for an inheritance to poſſeſſe it, then thou ſhalt put out the f remembrance of Amalék from vnder heauen: forget not.
