The portion of the Leuites 6 Of the Leuite comming from another place. 9 To auoyde the abominacion of the Gentiles. 15 God wil not leaue thẽ without a true Prophet. 20 The falſe prophet ſhalbe ſlaine. 22 How he may be knowen.

1.THe Prieſts of the Leuites, and all the tribe of Leuí ^* ſhal haue no parte nor inheritance with Iſraél, ^* but ſhal eat the offrings of the Lord made by fire, and his ^a inheritance.

2.Therefore ſhal they haue no inheritance amõg their brethren: for the Lord is their inheritance, as he hathe ſaid vnto them.

3.¶ And this ſhalbe y^e Prieſts duetie of the people, that they, which offer ſacrifice, whether it be bullocke or ſhepe, ſhal giue vnto the Prieſt the ^b ſhulder, and the two chekes, and the mawe.

4.The firſt frutes alſo of thy corne, of thy wine, and of thine oyle, and the firſt of the fleece of thy ſhepe ſhalt thou giue him.

5.For the Lord thy God hathe choſen him out of all thy tribes, to ſtand and miniſter in the Name of the Lord, him, & his ſonnes for euer.

6.¶ Alſo when a Leuite ſhal come out of anie of thy cities of all Iſraél, where he remained, and come with ^c all the deſire of his heart vnto the place, which the Lord ſhal choſe,

7.He ſhal then miniſter in the Name of y^e Lord his God, as all his brethren the Leuites, which remaine there before the Lord.

8.They ſhal haue like porciõs to eat, ^d beſide that which commeth of his ſale of his patrimonie.

9.When thou ſhalt come into y^e land which the Lord thy God giueth thee, thou ſhalt not learne to do after the abominacions of thoſe nacions.

10.Let none be founde among you that maketh his ſonne or his daughter to ^e go through the fire, or that vſeth witchcraft, or a regarder of times, or a marker of the flying of foules, or a ſorcerer,

11.Or ^* a charmer, or that counſelleth with ſpirits, or a ſotheſayer, or that ^* aſketh counſel at the dead.

12.For all that do ſuche things are abominaciõ vnto the Lord, and becauſe of theſe abominacions the Lord thy God doeth caſt them out before thee.

13.Thou ſhalt be ^f vpright therefore with the Lord thy God.

14.For theſe nacions which thou ſhalt poſſeſſe, hearken vnto thoſe that regarde the times, & vnto ſorcerers: but as for thee, the Lord thy God hathe not ſuffered thee ſo. ^"

15.¶ ^* The Lord thy God wil raiſe vp vnto thee a ^g Prophet like vnto me, frõ amõg you, euen of thy brethrẽ: vnto him ye ſhal hearken,

16.According to all that thou deſiredſt of the Lord thy God in Horéb, in the day of the the aſſemblie, when thou ſaideſt, ^* Let me heare the voyce of my Lord God no more, nor ſe this great fire anie more, that I dye not.

17.And the Lord ſaid vnto me, Thei haue wel ſpoken.

18.^* I wil raiſe thē vp a Prophet from amōg their brethren like vnto thee, and wil put my wordes in his ^h mouth, and he ſhal ſpeake vnto them all that I ſhal commande him.

19.And whoſoeuer wil not hearken vnto my wordes, which he ſhal ſpeake in my Name, I wil ⁱ require it of him.

20.But the prophet that ſhal preſume to ſpeake a worde in my Name, which I haue not cōmanded him to ſpeake, or that ſpeaketh in the name of other gods, euen the ſame prophet ſhal dye.

21.And if thou thinke in thine heart, How ſhal we knowe the worde which the Lord hathe not ſpoken?

22.When a prophet ſpeaketh in the Name of the Lord, if the thing ^k followe not nor come to paſſe, that is the thing which the Lord hathe not ſpoke, but the prophet hathe ſpokē it preſumpteouſly: thou ſhalt not therefore be afrayed of him.
