Luke 11

2 He teacheth his disciples to pray. 14 He driveth out a devil, 15 And rebuketh the blasphemous Pharises. 28 He preferreth the spiritual cousinage 29 They require signs and tokens. 37 He eateth with the Pharise, and reproveth the hypocrisy of the Pharises, Scribes, and hypocrites.
1.And so it was, that as he was praying in a certain place, when he ceased, one of his disciples said unto him, Master, teach us to pray, as John also taught his disciples.
2.*And he said unto them, When ye pray, say, Our Father, which art in heaven, halowed by thy Name: Thy kingdom come: Let thy will be done even in earth, as it is in heaven:
3.Our daily bread give us afor the day:
4.And ^forgive us our sins: for even we forgive every man that is indetted to us: And lead us not into temptation: but deliver us from evil.
5.¶ Moreover he said unto them, bWhich of you shall have a friend, and shall go to him at midnight, and say unto him, Friend, lend me three loaves?
6.For a friend of mine is come ^out of the way to me, and I have nothing to set before him:
7.And he within should answer, and say, Trouble me not: the door is now shut, and my children are with me in bed: I can not rise and give them to thee.
8.I say unto you, though he would not arise and give him, because he is his friend, yet doubtless because of his ^importunity, he would rise, & give him as many as he needed.
9.*And I say unto you, Ask, and it shalbe given you: seek, and ye shall find: knock, and it shalbe opened unto you.
10.For every one that asketh, receiveth: and he that seeketh, findeth: and to him that knocketh, it shalbe opened.
11.*If a son shall ask bread of any of you that is a father, will he give him a stone? or if he ask a fish, will he for a fish give him a serpent?
12.Or if he ask an egg, will he give him a scorpion?
13.If ye then which are evil, can give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your heavenly Father give cthe holie Ghost to them, that desire him?
14.*Then he cast out a devil which was domme: and when the devil was gone out, the domme spake, and the people wondered.
15.*But some of them said, He casteth out devils through Beelzebub the chief of the devils.
16.And others tempted him, seeking of him a sign from heaven.
17.But he knewe their thoughts, and said unto them, *Every kingdom divided against it self, shalbe desolate, and an house divided against an house, falleth.
18.So if Satan also be divided against him self, how shall his kingdom stand, because ye say that I cast out devils through Beelzebub?
19.If I through Beelzebub cast out devils, by whom do your dchildren cast them out? Therefore shall they be your judges.
20.But if I by the efinger of God cast out devils, doubtless the kingdom of God is come unto you.
21.When a strong man armed, kepeth his fpalace, the things that he possesseth, are in ^peace.
22.But when a stronger then he, commeth upon him, and overcometh him: he taketh from him all his armour wherein he trusted, and devideth his spoils.
23.He that is not gwith me, is against me: and he that gathereth not with me, scattereth.
24.*When the unclean spirit is gone out of a man, he walketh through dry places, seeking hrest and when he findeth none, he saith, I will return unto mine house whence I came out.
25.And when he commeth, he findeth it swept and igarnished.
26.Then kgoeth he, and taketh to him lseven other spirits worse then him self: and they enter in, and dwell there, *so the last state of that man is worse then the first.
27.¶ And it came to pass as he said these things, a certain woman of the company lifted up her voice, and said unto him, Blessed is the womb that bare thee, and the pappes which thou hast sucked.
28.But he said, mYea, rather blessed are they that hear the word of God, and keep it.
29.*And when the people were gathered thick together, he began to say, This is a wicked generation: they seek a sign, & there shall no sign be given them, but the sign of *Jonas the Prophet.
30.For as Jonas was a sign to the Ninevites, so shall also the Son of man be to this generation.
31.*The Queen of the South shall rise in judgement, with the men of this generation, and shall condemn them: for she came from the utmost parts of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon, and behold, a greater then Solomon is here.
32.The men of Nineve shall rise in judgement with this generation, and shall condemn it: for they *repented at the preaching of Jonas: and behold, a greater then Jonas is here.
33.*No man lighteth a candel, and putteth it in a privie place, neither under a bushel: but on a candlestick, that they which come in, may see the light.
34.*^The light of the body is the neye: therefore when thine eye is single, then is thy whole body light: but is thine eye be evil, then thy body is dark.
35.Take heed therefore, that the light which is in thee, be not darkness.
36.If therefore thy whole body shalbe light, having no part dark, then shall all be light, even as when a candel doeth light thee with the brightness.
37.¶ And as he spake, a certain Pharise besought him to dyne with him: and he went in, and sate down at table.
38.And when the Pharise saw it: he marveiled that he had not first washed before dyner.
39.*And the Lord said to him, In deed ye Pharises make clean the outside of the cup, and of the platter: but the inward part is full of ravening and wickedness.
40.Ye fools, did not he that made that which is without, make that which is within also?
41.Therefore, pgive alms of ^those things which are within, and behold, all things shalbe clean to you.
42.But wo be to you, Pharises: for ye tithe the mynt and the rewe, and all manner herbs, and pass over ^judgement and the love of God: these ought ye to have done, and qnot to have left the other undone.
43.*Wo be to you, Pharises: for ye love the uppermost seats in the Synagogues, and greetings in the markets.
44.Wo be to you, Scribes and Pharises, hypocrites: for ye are as graves which rappear not, and the men that walk over them, perceive not.
45.¶ Then answered one of the expounders of the Law, and said unto him, Master, thus saying thou puttest us to rebuke also.
46.*And he said, Wo be to you also, ye interpreters of the Law: for ye lade men with burdens grievous to be born, and ye your selves touch not the burdens with one of your fingers.
47.Wo be to you: for ye sbuild the sepulchres of the Prophets, and your fathers killed them.
48.tTruly ye bear witness, and allow the deeds of your fathers: for they killed them, and ye ubuild their sepulchres.
49.Therefore said the wisdom of God, I will send them Prophets and Apostles, and of them they shall slay and ^persecute,
50.That the blood of all the Prophets, shed from the foundation of the world, may be required of this generation,
51.From the blood of *Abel unto the blood of *Zacharias, which was slain between the altar and the Temple: verily I say unto you, it shalbe required of xthis generation.
52.Wo be to you, interpreters of the Law: for ye have ytaken away the key of knowledge: ye entered not in your selves, and them that came in, ye forbade.
53.And as he said these things unto them, the Scribes and Pharises began to urge him sore, and to provoke him to speak of many things,
54.Laying wait for him, and seeking to catch some thing of his mouth, whereby they might accuse him.
