Ezekiel 24

He ſheweth the deſtruction of Ieruſalém by a parable of a ſeething pot. 16 The parable of Ezekiels wife being dead.
.AGaine in the ninth yere, in the tēth moneth, in the tenth day of the moneth came the worde of the Lord vnto me, ſaying,
.Sonne of man, write thee the name of the day, euen of this ſame day: for the King of Babél ſet him ſelf againſt Ieruſalém this ſame day.
.Therefore ſpeake a parable vnto ye rebellious houſe, and ſay vnto them, Thus ſaith the Lord God, Prepare a pot, prepare it, and alſo power water into it.
.Gather the pieces thereof into it, euen euerie good piece, as the thigh and the ſhuldre, & fil it with the chief bones.
.Take one of the beſt ſhepe, and burne alſo the bones vnder it, & make it boyle wel, and ſethe the bones of it therein,
.Becauſe the Lord God ſaith thus, Wo to the bloodie citie, euen to the pot, whoſe ſkome is therein, and whoſe ſkome is not gone out of it: bring it out piece by piece: let no lot fall vpon it.
.For her blood is in the middes of her: ſhe ſet it vpon an high rocke, and powred it not vpon the grounde to couer it wt duſt,
.That it might cauſe wrath to ariſe, & take vengeance: euen I haue ſet her blood vpon an high rocke yt it ſhulde not be couered.
.Therefore thus ſaith the Lord God, Wo to the bloodie citie, for I wil make the burning great.
.Heape on muche wood: kindle the fyre, conſume the fleſh, and caſt in ſpice, and let the bones be burnt.
.Then ſet it emptie vpon the coles thereof, that the braſſe of it may be hot, and may burne, and that the filthines of it may be molten in it, and that the ſkome of it may be conſumed.
.She hathe wearied her ſelf with lies, & her great ſkome went not out of her: therefore her ſkome ſhalbe conſumed with fyre.
.Thou remaineſt in thy filthines & wickednes: becauſe I wolde haue purged thee, and thou waſt not purged, thou ſhalt not be purged frō thy filthines, til I haue cauſed my wrath to light vpon thee.
.I the Lord haue ſpoken it: it ſhal come to paſſe, and I wil do it: I wil not go backe, nether wil I ſpare, nether wil I repent: according to thy wayes, and according to thy workes ſhal they iudge thee, ſaith the Lord God.
.¶ Alſo the worde of the Lord came vnto me, ſaying,
.Sonne of man, beholde, I take away frõ thee the pleaſure of thine eyes with a plague: yet ſhalt thou nether mourne nor wepe, nether ſhal thy teares runne downe.
.Ceaſe from ſighing: make no mourning for the dead, & binde the tyre of thine head vpon thee, and put on thy ſhoes vpon thy fete, & couer not thy lippes, and eat not the bread of men.
.So I ſpake vnto the people in the morning, and at euen my wife dyed: and I did in the morning, as I was commanded.
.And the people ſaid vnto me, Wilt thou not tel vs what theſe thĩgs meane toward vs, that thou doeſt ſo?
.Then I anſwered them, The worde of the Lord came vnto me, ſaying,
.Speake vnto the houſe of Iſraél, Thus ſaith ye Lord God, Beholde, I wil pollute my Sãctuarie, euen the pride of your power, the pleaſure of your eyes, and your hearts deſire, & your ſonnes, & your daughters whome ye haue left, ſhal fall by the ſworde.
.And ye ſhal do as I haue done: ye ſhal not couer your lippes, nether ſhal ye eat the bread of men.
.And your tyre ſhalbe vpon your heads, & your ſhoes vpon your fete: ye ſhal not mourne nor wepe, but ye ſhal pine away for your iniquities, & mourne one toward another.
.Thus Ezekiél is vnto you a ſigne: according to all that he hathe done, ye ſhal do: and when this cometh, ye ſhal knowe that I am the Lord God.
.Alſo, thou ſonne of man, ſhal it not be in the day when I take from thẽ their power, the ioye of their honour, the pleaſure of their eyes, and the deſire of their heart, their ſonnes and their daughters?
.That he that eſcapeth in that day, ſhal come vnto thee to tel thee that which he hathe heard with his eares?
.In that day ſhal thy mouth be opened to him which is eſcaped, and thou ſhalt ſpeake, and be no more domme, and thou ſhalt be a ſigne vnto them, and they ſhal knowe that I am the Lord.
