Psalms 9

1 After he had given thanks to God for the sundrie victories that he had sent him against his enemies, and also proved by manifold experience how ready God was at hand in all his troubles 14 He being now likewise in danger of new enemies, desireth God to help him according to his wonte, 17 And to destroy the malicious arrogancie of his adversaries.
To him that excelleth upon ^Muth Labbén. A Psalme of David.
1.I will praise the Lord with my awhole heart: I will speak of all thy marvelous works.
2.I wil be glad, and rejoice in thee: I wil sing praise to thy Name, ô most high,
3.For that mine enemies are turned back: they shal fall, and perish at thy presence.
4.For bthou hast maintained my right and my cause: thou art set in the throne, and judgest right.
5.Thou hast rebuked the heathen: thou hast destroyed the wicked: thou hast put out their name for ever and ever.
6.cO enemie, destructions are come to a perpetual end, and thou hast destroyed the cities: their memorial is perished with them.
7.But the Lord ^shal sit for ever: he hath prepared his throne for judgement.
8.For he shal judge the world in righteousness, and shal judge the people with equity.
9.The Lord also wil be a refuge for the dpoor, a refuge in due time, even in affliction.
10.And they that know thy Name, wil trust in thee: for thou, Lord, hast not failed them that seek thee.
11.Sing praises to the Lord, which dwelleth in Zión: shewe the people his works.
12.For ewhen he maketh inquisition for blood, he remembreth it, and forgetteth not the complaint of the poor.
13.Have mercy upon me, ô Lord: consider my trouble, which I suffer of them that hate me, thou that liftest me up from the gates of death.
14.That I may shewe all thy praises within the fgates of the daughter of Zión, and rejoyce in thy salvation.
15.The heathen are gsunken down in the pit, that they made: in the net that they hid, is their foot taken.
16.hThe Lord is knowen by executing judgement: the wicked is snared in the work of his own hands. ^Higgaión. Seláh.
17.The wicked shal turn into hel, and all nations that forget God.
18.For the poor shal not be alwaie forgotten: the hope iof the afflicted shal not perish for ever.
19.Up Lord: let not man prevail: let the heathen be judged in thy sight.
20.Put them in fear, ô Lord, that the heathen maie know that they are but kmen. Seláh.

God is not praised, except the whole glory be given to him alone.

Howsoever the enemy seem for a time to prevail, yet God preserves the just.

A derision of the enemy, that minds nothing but destruction: but the Lord will deliver his, and bring him into judgment.

Our miseries are means to cause us to feel God's present care over us.

Though God revenges not suddenly the wrong done to his, yet he suffers not the wicked unpunished.

Or, this is worthy to be noted.

The mercy of God toward his Saints must be declared, and the fall of the wicked must always be considered.

God promises not to help us before we have felt the cross.

Which they can not learn without the fear of your Judgment.
