Psalms 87

1 The holie Gost promiseth that the condition of the Church, which was in miserie after the captivity of Babylon, should be restored to great excellencie, 4 So that there should be nothing more comfortable then to be nombred among the members thereof.
¶ A Psalme or song committed to the sons of Kórah.
1.aGod laied his foundacions among the holie mountains.
2.The Lord loveth the gates of Zión above all the habitations of Jaakób.
3.bGlorious things are spoken of thee, ô Citie of God. Sélah.
4.I wil make mention of c Raháb & Babél among them that know me: behold Palestina and Tyrus with Ethiopia, dThere is he born.
5.And of Zión it shalbe said, eMany are born in her: and he, even the most High shal stablish her.
6.The Lord shal count, when he fwriteth the people, He was born there. Sélah.
7.Aswel the singers as the plaiers on instruments shal praise thee: all my gsprings are in thee.

God did choose that place among the hills to establish Jerusalem and his Temple.

Though your glorious estate does not yet appear, yet wait with patience and God will accomplish his promise.
4-c.
That is, Egypt and these other countries shall come to the knowledge of God.

It shalbe said of him, that is regenerate and come to the Church, that he is as one that was born in the Church.
5-e.
Out of all quarters they shall come into the Church and be counted as citizens.
6-f.
When he calls by his word them into the Church, whom he had elected and written in his book.
7-g.
The Prophet sets his whole affections and comfort in the Church.
