Psalm 70

1 He praieth to be right ſpedely deliuered. 2 He deſireth the ſhame of his enemies. 4 And the ioyful comfort of all thoſe that ſeke the Lord.
¶ To him that excelleth. A Pſalme of Dauid to put in remembrance.
1.O God, haſte thee to deliuer me: make haſte to helpe me, ô Lord.
2.Let them be confounded & put to ſhame, that ſeke my ſoule: let them be turned backewarde and put to rebuke, that deſire mine hurt.
3.Let thẽ be turned backe for a rewarde of their ſhame, which ſaid, Aha, aha.
4.But let all thoſe that ſeke thee, be ioyful & glad in thee, and let all that loue thy ſaluacion, ſaie alwaies, God be praiſed.
5.Now I am poore and nedie: ô God, make haſte to me: thou art mine helper, and my deliuerer: ô Lord, make no tarying.

He teacheth vs to be earneſt in praier, thogh God ſeme to ſtay: for at his time he wil heare vs. & he was aſſured that the more thei raged, the nerer thei were to deſtruction & he the nerer to his deliuerãce

Hereby we are taught not to mocke at others in their miſerie, leſt ye ſame fall on or owne necks.

Becauſe he had felt Gods helpe before, he groundeth on experience and boldely ſeketh vnto him for ſuccour.
