Psalms 16

1 David prayeth to God for succour, not for his works, but for his faith's sake, 4 Protesting that he hateth all idolatrie, taking God only for his comfort and felicitie. 8 Who suffereth his to lack nothing.

1.Preserve me, ô God: for in thee do I atrust.
2.O my soul, thou hast said unto the Lord, Thou art my Lord: my bweldoing extendeth not to thee,
3.But to the Saints that are in the earth, and to the excellent: all my delite is in them.
4.The csorrows of them, that offer to another god, shal be multiplied: dtheir offerings of blood wil I not offer, neither make mention of their names with my lips.
5.The Lord is the portion of mine inheritance and of my cup: thou shalt maintain my lot.
6.The elines are fallen unto me in pleasant places: yea, I have a fair heritage.
7.I wil praise the Lord, who hath given me counsel: my freines also teach me in the nights.
8.I have set the Lord always before me: for he is at my right hand: therefore I gshal not slide.
9.Wherefore hmine heart is glad and my tongue rejoyceth: my flesh also doeth rest in hope.
10.For thou iwilt not leave my soul in the grave: neither wilt thou suffer thine holie one to see corruption.
11.Thou wilt shewe me the path of life: in thy kpresence is the fulness of joy: & at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore.

He shows that we can not call upon God, except we trust in him.

Though we can not enrich God, yet we must bestow God's gifts to the use of his children.

As grief of conscience and miserable destruction.

He would neither by outward profession nor in heart nor in mouth consent to their idolatries.

Wherewith my portion is measured.

God teaches me continually by secret inspiration.

The faithful are sure to persevere to the end.

That is, I rejoice both in body and in soul.

Where God favours, there is perfect felicity
