Psalms 118

1 David rejected of Saúl and of the people, at the time appointed obtained the kingdom. 4 For the which he biddeth all them, that fear the Lord, to be thankful. And under his person in all this was Christ lively set forth, who should be of his people rejected.
1.aPraise ye the Lord, because he is good: for his mercie endureth for ever.
2.Let Israél now saie, That his mercie for ever.
3.Let the house of Aarón now saie, That his mercie endureth for ever.
4.Let them, that fear the Lord, now saie, That his mercie endureth for ever.
5.I called upon the Lord in btrouble, and the Lord heard me, and set me at large.
6.The Lord is with me: therefore I wil not fear what cman can do unto me.
7.The Lord is with me among them that help me: therefore shal I se my desire upon mine enemies.
8.It is better to trust in the Lord, then to have confidence din man.
9.It is better to trust in the Lord, then to have confidence in princes.
10.All nations have compassed me: but in the Name of the Lord shal I destroy them.
11.Thei have compassed me, yea, they have compassed me: but in the Name of the Lord I shall destroy them.
12.Thei came about me like bees, but they were quenched as a fyre of thornes: for in the Name of the Lord I shal destroy them.
13.eThou hast thrust sore at me, that I might fall, but the Lord hathe holpen me.
14.The Lord is my strength and fsong: for he hathe been my deliverance.
15.The gvoice of joy and deliverance shalbe in the tabernacle of the righteous, saying, The right hand of the Lord hathe done valiantly.
16.The right hand of the Lord is exalted: hthe right hand of the Lord hathe done valiantly.
17.I shal not die, but live, and declare the works of the Lord.
18.The Lord hathe chastened me sore, but he hathe not delivered me to death.
19.Open ye unto me the igates of righteousness, that I maie go in to them, and praise the Lord.
20.This is the gate of the Lord: the righteous shal enter into it.
21.I wil praise thee: for thou hast heard me, and hast been my deliverance.
22.*The stone, which the buylders krefused, is the head of the corner.
23.This was the Lord’s doing, and it is marvelous in our eyes.
24.This is the ldaie, which the Lord hathe made: let us rejoyce and be glad in it.
25.mO Lord, I praie thee, save now: ô Lord, I praie thee now give prosperity.
26.Blessed be he, that cometh in the Name of the Lord: nwe have blessed you out of the house of the Lord.
27.The Lord is mightie, and hathe given us olight: bind the sacrifice with cords unto the horns of the altar.
28.Praise ye the Lord, because he is good: for his mercie for ever.

1-a.
Because God by creating David King, showed his mercy toward his afflicted Church, the Prophet does not only himself thank God, but exhorts all the people to do the same.
5-b.
We are here taught, that the more that troubles oppress us, the more ought we to be instant in prayer.
6-c.
Being exalted to this estate, he assured himself to have man ever to be his enemy. Yet he doubted not, but God would maintain him because he had placed him.
8-d.
He shows that he had trusted in vain, if he had put his confidence in man, to have been preferred to the kingdom, and therefore he put his trust in God and obtained.

He notes Saul his chief enemy.

In that he was delivered, it came not of himself, nor of the power of man, but only of God’s favour: therefore he will praise him.

He promises both to render graces himself, and to cause others to do the same, because that in his person the Church was restored.

He wills the doors of the Tabernacle to be opened, that he may declare his thankful mind.
