2 Chronicles 35

1 Ioſiáh kepeth the Paſſeouer. 2 He ſetteth forthe Gods ſeruice. 20 He fighteth againſt the King of Egypt, & dyeth. 24 The people bewayle him.
1.MOreouer Ioſiáh kept a Paſſeouer vnto the Lord in Ieruſalém, & they ſlewe the Paſſeouer in the fourtenthe day of the firſt moneth.
2.And he appointed the Prieſts to their charges, and incouraged them to the ſeruice of the houſe of the Lord,
3.And he ſaid vnto yͤ Leuites, that taught all Iſraél and were ſanctified vnto yͤ Lord, Put the holy Arke in the houſe which Salomón the ſonne of Dauid King of Iſraél did buyld: it ſhal be no more a burden vpon your ſhoulders: ſerue now the Lord your God and his people Iſraél,
4.And prepare your ſelues by the houſes of your fathers according to your courſes, as Dauid the King of Iſraél hathe writen, & according to the writing of Salomón his ſonne,
5.And ſtand in the Sanctuarie according to the diuiſiõ of the families of your brethren the children of the people, and after the diuiſion of the familie of the Leuites:
6.So kil the Paſſeouer, and ſanctifie your ſelues, and prepare your brethren that they may do according to the worde of the Lord by the hand of Moſés.
7.Ioſiáh alſo gaue to the people ſhepe, lãbes and kiddes, all for the Paſſeouer, euen to all that were preſent, to the nomber of thirty thouſand, & thre thouſand bullockes: theſe were of the Kings ſubſtance.
8.And his princes offred willingly vnto the people, to the Prieſts & to the Leuites: Hilkiáh, and Zechariáh, and Iehiél, rulers of the houſe of God, gaue vnto yͤ Prieſts for the Paſſeouer, euen two thouſand and ſix hundreth ſhepe, & thre hũdreth bullockes.
9.Conaniáh alſo and Shemaiáh and Nethanéel his brethren, and Haſhabiáh and Ieiél, & Iozabád, chief of the Leuites gaue vnto the Leuites for the Paſſeouer, fyue thouſand ſhepe, & fyue hũdreth bullockes.
10.Thus the ſeruice was prepared, and the Prieſts ſtode in their places, alſo the Leuites in their ordres according to the Kings commandement:
11.And they ſlewe the Paſſeouer, & yͤ Prieſts ſprinkled the blood with their hands, & the Leuites flayed them.
12.And they toke away from the burnt offring to giue it according to the diuiſions of the families of the children of the people, to offer vnto the Lord, as it is writen in the boke of Moſés, & ſo of yͤ bullockes.
13.And they roſted the Paſſeouer with fyre, according to the cuſtome, but the ſanctified things they ſod in pottes, pannes, and caulderns, & diſtributed them quickely to all the people.
14.Afterwarde alſo they prepared for thẽſelues & for the Prieſts: for the Prieſts the ſonnes of Aarón were occupied in offring of burnt offrĩgs, & the fat vntil night: therefore the Leuites prepared for thẽſelues, & for the Prieſts the ſonnes of Aarón.
15.And the ſingers the ſonnes of Aſáph ſtode in their ſtanding according to the commandement of Dauid, and Aſáph, and Hemán, and Ieduthún the Kings Seer: and the porters at euerie gate, who might not departe from their ſeruice: therefore their brethren the Leuites prepared for them.
16.So all the ſeruice of the Lord was prepared the ſame day, to kepe the Paſſeouer, and to offer burnt offrings vpon the altar of the Lord, according to the commandement of King Ioſiáh.
17.And the childrẽ of Iſraél that were preſent, kept the Paſſeouer the ſame time, and the feaſt of the vnleauened bread ſeuen dayes.
18.And there was no Paſſeouer kept like that, in Iſraél, from the dayes of Samuél the Prophet: nether did all ye Kings of Iſraél kepe ſuche a Paſſeouer as Ioſiáh kept, and the Prieſtes and the Leuites, & all Iudáh, and Iſraél that were preſent, and the inhabitants of Ieruſalém.
19.This Paſſeouer was kept in the eightente yere of the reigne of Ioſiáh.
20.After all this, when Ioſiáh had prepared the Tẽple, Nechó King of Egypt came vp to fight againſt Carchemíſh by *Peráth, and Ioſiáh went out againſt him.
21.But he ſent meſſengers to him, ſaying, What haue I to do with thee, thou King of Iudáh? I come not againſt thee this day, but againſt the houſe of mine enemie, and God commanded me to make haſte: leaue of to come againſt God, which is with me, leſt he deſtroye thee.
22.But Ioſiáh wolde not turne his face frõ him, but chãged his apparel to fight with him, and hearkened not vnto the wordes of Nechó, which were of the mouth of God, but came to fight in the valley of Megiddó.
23.And the ſhoters ſhot at King Ioſiáh: the the King ſaid to his ſeruants, Cary me away, for I am very ſicke.
24.So his ſeruants toke him out of that charet, & put him in the ſeconde charet which he had, and when they had broght him to Ieruſalém, he dyed, and was buryed in the ſepulchres of his fathers: and all Iudáh and Ieruſalém mourned for Ioſiáh.
25.And Ieremiáh lamented Ioſiáh, and all ſinging men and ſinging women mourned for Ioſiáh in their lamẽtacions to this day, and made the ſame for an ordinance vnto Iſraél: and beholde, they be writen in the lamentacions.
26.Concerning the reſt of the actes of Ioſiáh and his goodnes, doing as it was writẽ in the Law of the Lord,
27.And his dedes, firſt and laſt, beholde, thei are writen in the boke of the Kings of Iſraél and Iudáh.

The Scripture vſeth in ſundrie places to call the lambe the Paſſeouer, which was but the ſigne of yͤ Paſſeouer, becauſe in all ſacraments the ſignes haue the names of the things which are ſignified.
