2 Aſa for feare of Baaſhá King of Iſraél, maketh a couenant with Benhadád King of Arám. 7 He is reproued by the Prophet. 10 Whome he putteth in priſon. 12 He putteth his truſt in the Phyſitians. 13 His death.
1.IN the ſix & thirtieth yere of the reigne of Aſa came Baaſhá King of Iſraél vp againſt Iudáh, and buylt Ramáh to let none paſſe out or go in to Aſa King of Iudáh.
2.Then Aſa broght out ſiluer and golde out of the treaſures of the houſe of the Lord, and of the Kings houſe, and ſent to Benhadád King of Arám that dwelt at Damaſcus, ſaying,
3.There is a couenant betwene me & thee, and betwene my father and thy father: beholde, I haue ſent thee ſiluer and golde: come, breake thy league with Baaſhá King of Iſraél that he may departe from me.
4.And Benhadád hearkened vnto King Aſa, and ſent the captaines of the armies which he had, againſt the cities of Iſraél. And they ſmote Iión, and Dan, and Abel-máim, and the ſtore cities of Naphtalí.
5.And when Baaſhá heard it, he left buylding of Ramáh, and let his worke ceaſe.
6.Then Aſa the King toke all Iudáh, and caryed away the ſtones of Ramáh and the tymbre thereof, wherewith Baaſhá did buyld, and he buylt therewith Géba and Mizpáh.
7.¶ And at that ſame time Hanáni the Seer came to Aſa King of Iudáh, and ſaid vnto him, Becauſe thou haſt reſted vpon the King of Arám, and not reſted in the Lord thy God, therefore is the hoſte of the Kĩg of Arám eſcaped out of thine hand.
8.The Ethiopians and the Lubims, were they not a great hoſte with charets and horſemen, exceding many? yet becauſe thou dideſt reſt vpon the Lord, he deliuered them into thine hand.
9.For the eies of the Lord beholde all the earth to ſhewe him ſelfe ſtrong with them that are of perfite heart toward him. thou haſt done fooliſhly in this: therefore from henceforth thou ſhalt haue warres.
10.Then Aſa was wroth with the Seer, & put him into a priſon: for he was diſpleaſed with him, becauſe of this thing. And Aſa oppreſſed certeine of the people at the ſame time.
11.And beholde, the actes of Aſá firſt and laſt, lo, they are writen in the boke of the Kings of Iudáh and Iſraél.
12.¶ And Aſá in the nine and thirtieth yere of his reigne was diſeaſed in his fete, and his diſeaſe was extreme: yet he ſoght not the Lord in his diſeaſe, but to the Phiſicians.
13.So Aſá ſlept with his fathers, and dyed in the one and fourtieth yere of his reigne.
14.And they buryed him in one of his ſepulchres, which he had made for him ſelfe in the citie of Dauid, & laied him in the bed, which they had filled with ſwete odours and diuerſe kindes of ſpices, made by the arte of the apoticarie: and they burnt him with an exceding great fyre.

God plagued his rebellion, & hereby declareth that it is nothing to beginne wel, except we ſo cõtinue to the ẽd, that is, zealous of Gods glorie, and put our whole truſt in him. He ſheweth that it is in vaine to ſeke to ye Phiſiciãs, except firſt we ſeke to God to purge our ſinnes, which are the chief cauſe of all our diſeaſes, & after vſe the helpe of ye phiſiciãs, as a meane by whome God worketh
