2 Samuel 6

CHAP. VI. 3 The Arke is broght forthe of the houſe of Abinadáb 7 Vzzáh is ſtriken, & dyeth. 14 Dauid dãceth before it. 16 And is therefore deſpiſed of his wife Michál.
1.1 AGaine Dauid gathered together all the " choſen men of Iſraél, euen thirtie thouſand,
2.2 * And Dauid aroſe & went wt all the people that were with him a frõ Baalé of Iudáh to bring vp from thence the Arke of God, whoſe name is called by the Name of the Lord of hoſtes, that dwelleth vpon it betwene the Cherubíms.
3.3 And they put the Arke of God vpon a newe carte, and broght it out of the houſe of Abinadáb that was in b Gibeáh. And Vzzáh and Ahió the ſonnes of Abinadáb did driue the newe carte.
4.4 And when they broght the Arke of God out of the houſe of * Abinadáb, that was at Gibeáh, Ahió went before the Arke,
5.5 And Dauid and all the houſe of Iſraél c played before the Lord on all inſtruments made of firre, and on harpes, and on pſalteries, and on timbrels, and on cornets, and on cymbals.
6.6 ¶ * And whẽ they came to Nachons threſhing floore, Vzzáh put his hãd to the Arke of God, & helde it: for ye oxẽ did ſhake it.
7.7 And the Lord was very wrothe wt Vzzáh, & God d ſmote him in ye ſame place for his faute, & there he dyed by ye Arke of God.
8.8 And Dauid was diſpleaſed, becauſe the Lord had " ſmitten Vzzáh: and he called the name of the place " Pérez Vzzáh vntil this day.
9.9 Therefore Dauid that day feared the Lord, and ſaid, How ſhal the Arke of the Lord come to me?
10.10 So Dauid wolde not bring the Arke of the Lord vnto him into the citie of Dauid, but Dauid caryed it into the houſe of Obed-edóm e a Gittite.
11.11 And the Arke of the Lord continued in the houſe of Obed-edóm the Gittite, thre moneths, and the Lord bleſſed Obed-edóm, and all his houſholde.
12.12 ¶ And one tolde King Dauid, ſaying, * The Lord hathe bleſſed the houſe of Obed-edóm, and all that he hathe, becauſe of the Arke of God: therefore Dauid went and f broght the Arke of God from the houſe of Obed-edóm, into the citie of Dauid with gladnes.
13.13 And when they that bare the Arke of the
14.And Dauid dãced before the Lord with all his might, and was girded with a li g nen Ephód.
15.So Dauid and all the houſe of Iſraél, broght the Arke of the Lord with ſhowting, and ſounde of trumpet.
16.And as the Arke of the Lord came into the citie of Dauid, Michál Sauls daughter loked through a windowe, and ſawe King Dauid leape, and dance before the Lord, and ſhe h deſpiſed him in her heart.
17.And when they had broght in the Arke of the Lord, they ſet it in his place, in the middes of the tabernacle that Dauid had pitched for it: thẽ Dauid offred burnt offrings, & peace offrings before the Lord.
18.And aſſone as Dauid had made an end of offring burnt offrings & peace offrings, he * bleſſed the people in the Name of the Lord of hoſtes,
19.And gaue among all the people, euen among the whole multitude of Iſraél, aſwel to the women as men, to euerie one a cake of bread, and a piece of fleſh, and a bottel of wine: ſo all the people departed euerie one to his houſe.
20.¶ Then Dauid returned to i bleſſe his houſe, and Michál the daughter of Saúl came out to mete Dauid, and ſaid, O how glorious was the King of Iſraél this day, which was vncouered to day in the eyes of the maidens of his ſeruants, as a foole vncouereth him ſelfe.
21.Then Dauid ſaid vnto Michál, k It was before the Lord, which choſe me rather then thy father, and all his houſe, and cõmanded me to be ruler ouer all the people of the Lord, euen ouer Iſraél: and therefore wil I play before the Lord,
22.And wil yet be more vile then thus, and wil be lowe in mine owne ſight, and of the very ſame maidſeruants, which thou haſt ſpoken of, ſhal I be had in honour.
23.Therefore Michál the daughter of Saúl had l no childe, vnto the day of her death.
